Harmful effects of raw egg consumption

  1. Fresh eggs, even those with clean, uncracked shells, may contain bacteria called Salmonella that can cause food poisoning.
  2. Prolonged consumption of raw eggs may cause biotin deficiency because raw egg white contains an antimicrobial protein known as avidin that tightly binds biotin and prevents its absorption.
  3. Some people are allergic to raw egg white.
