Cardiac drug digoxin derived from foxglove plant

Cardiac drug digoxin derived from foxglove plant:
Digoxin comes from the foxgloves plant known as Digitalis lanata.

Digoxin is a cardiotonic glycoside and used to treat various heart problems such as atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation, and heart failure with its associated symptoms and to induce fetal demise prior to an abortion.

Digitalis toxicity is common, since all cardiac glycosides have a low therapeutic index.
